Try a weekly class, walking group, library event, volunteer shift or hobby club. Returning regularly gives familiarity time to grow.

Make the invitation specific

Rather than saying 'we should get together,' suggest coffee after class next Thursday or a walk over the weekend.

Keep a gentle rhythm

Follow up, show interest and make room for differences. Two or three meaningful connections can matter more than a packed social calendar.
