This guide is not a diagnosis or a substitute for a personalized medical consultation. Treatment decisions depend on your history and current guidelines.

Where there may be benefit

Some cannabinoid preparations have modest, short-term benefit for certain chronic pain outcomes; that does not mean all CBD products work for pain, anxiety, sleep or longevity.

CBD is not risk-free

The FDA warns about possible liver injury, drug interactions, sedation and uncertainty in nonprescription products. Product composition and labeling can be unreliable.

THC requires care

THC can impair attention and driving and can worsen anxiety or psychotic experiences in susceptible people. Discuss psychiatric history, other medicines and local law with a clinician.

How to evaluate a claim

Look for randomized human studies of the precise formulation and condition, independent testing, adverse-effect reporting and transparent regulatory status.
